Post-SB and cuteness

I think God, if there is one, is a Steelers fan. In spite of all the dumb penalties and miscues, the Steelers won. Hats off to them. Though, I don’t get a few things. 1. Why was the forward motion called a fumble and for Tom Brady called a forward pass/fumble (tuck rule)?, 2. Why wasn’t Holmes penalized for his use of the football as a prop for his TD celebration? 3. Why wasn’t Harrison ejected from the game?

The Cardinals played a really great game. It’s too bad for the Warner kids though, they don’t get their puppy.

The car show happened this weekend, as you can see in the baby blog. It was really fun this year, because Nora had a lot of opinions (toddlers having opinions, go figure). I’ll do a write-up later this week.

If she saw a car she liked she’d say ‘hop in?’ and if she wanted to stay in the car she’d say ‘close door please’. If she wanted one of us to hop in with her she’d say ‘mommy/daddy/uncle sit here!’ and point to the passenger’s seat. The four of us played musical chairs when we got to the odyssey.

For those keeping score at home, the vehicles she really liked were the Honda Odyssey, the Mazda CX-7, the VW Jetta Wagon, and her favorite above all of them was the Saab 93 station wagon. She threw a fit when I pulled her out of it. Daddy wishes he could have that one too, baby girl!

Other cuteness:

Parking lot attendant guy: (lots of chatter and joking)
Nora: (after we walked away) “He’s crazy.”

Mommy: “Nora, do you like it when daddy makes fun of mommy?”
Nora: “Yes! ah hah hah!”

Grandma: “We missed you Nora! Did you miss grandma and grandpa?”
Nora: (thoughtful sucks on her pacifier, then removes it) “No.”

Grandpa: “Nora, can you count?”
Nora: “One grandpa. Two apples. Three apples. AH AH AH!”
(reference here)

She also developed a wider range of emotions. She was tired at the car show and as we were leaving, she looked like she was going to run off again. So I used my stern daddy voice but instead of giggling and running away she walked back to her mommy and grabbed her hand.

Apparently she wanted to get a better look at a baby. Bad daddy.

Worse still, yesterday, I was joking with her to not tell mommy that we had peanuts. Naturally, she told mommy we had peanuts so said ‘Nora! don’t tell mommy we had peanuts, silly!” and she promptly buried her head in her hands. She thought she was in trouble.

Bad daddy #2.

And today:
Me: “Nora, daddy has to go to work.”
Nora: “Daddy no work. Daddy stay here. Daddy work later.”

And that’s how a heart breaks. :-/

Nora definitely would have preferred you over me this morning, I think. Cranky toddler + tired mommy = much screaming. From both of us. :-\ I apologized to her for yelling and she didn’t seem to care, but I still feel bad. :-( :-( :-(
