After using M&M’s SLR over the weekend, I’ve been fiending for an dSLR of my own.

This is my baby, sitting at home, doing nothing.
It’s a shame that 1) digital back technology more or less halted with Hasselblads and 2) no one develops film cheaply; even mail order, high volume stuff is still expensive.
I’ve been toying with the idea of developing my own film and buying a film scanner to accompany the purchase of this holga…
…but that might be a bit much. Or is it?

I’m amazed at how inexpensive dSLRs cost now. Hasselblads and Leicas are still tremendously expensive, but the average entry level dSLR is significantly less expensive than its film counterpart ten years ago.
On the flip side, my camera, which was $800 without a lens, has an ebay value of $50 now and a ritz camera trade-in value of $7.00. It’s still an excellent camera, whose LCD screen (criticized at the time) now is the standard for nearly all dSLRs. My SLR is definitely not the same level as some of the dSLRs at the same price range (I’m leaving out the argument of film vs. digital, though).
This does beg the question: can I now buy a film leica on the cheap? Ebay, here I come…
EDIT: The answer is a resounding no. I love this little feature of the Leica M8:
