Blah

Forgive the rambling post. Especially the stuff about cats. No one likes blogs about cats, including me. They are cats, damn it, not engineers. That being said, here we go:

1. The cat peeing on stuff, I’ve determined, has little to do with Nora and a lot to do with me. It seems that every time he perceives that I’m rejecting him, he goes off and pees. It makes sense that way: he usually attacks me in the morning when I’m asleep, and lately I’ve been so dead to the world I don’t respond. Last night, I was in the basement but was getting up to leave – he wanted to jump on my lap – and then he went and peed on the carpet.

That’s frustrating, but if I’m the cause, I can work with that. How, I don’t know.

2. Denby prefers to the basement for food and litter. That solves the problem of shifting him to the basement. Most sites suggest having a litterbox per cat plus an extra, but our house isn’t big enough for that.

3. I did that run. It was brutal. After the first mile, there is a short run uphill, followed by a flat, followed by a longer run uphill, then a steep decent and another mini run uphill. I was exhausted for the rest of the day and incredibly hungry, which isn’t normal. I added the requisite four hundredths of a mile to get it to 1.5 even. Two laps of that and I should be ready to run a 5K. Now, actually working up to that two laps is the hard part.

4. Returned the Q, and scored another phone (Treo) in the process. I think sniping is a lost art, what with buy it now having gotten so popular. Back in the day, there was no way to win auctions without sniping. But, I can’t get my hopes up. The Q was supposed to have a clear ESN; it didn’t. This one is guaranteed to be clear. Or so the good seller says.

5. MJ stands to make more in death than in life, which is an utter travesty since Thriller was the single most sold record ever at 109 million copies and he only made $291 million. To put it in perspective, at $20 an album (remember, this was a vinyl) the record made $2.1 billion dollars. He only made 14% of that, and given the number of concerts her performed to push that album, that seems like highway robbery.

But you can understand why the RIAA would be protective of their industry. They were basically robbing artists blind and making a fortune in the process.

6. Imagine if you saw a guy walk into a supermarket once a week and walk to the soup aisle, only the soup aisle, and proceeded to buy only oriental ramen. Not one or two, but all of them. What would you think? Now what would think if that guy is standing in the self checkout line swiping ramen after ramen, muttering to himself? And launches an expletive laced tirade when the ‘bagging area is full’?

Yeah, that’s me. When people see me in the store, they laugh. All to feed this fetus. This fetus better be pretty freaking sick of ramen when it comes out, because after this I’m not buying anymore god damned ramen.

Do you know how bad it is? No, you don’t. YOU DON’T KNOW. Lisa’s mom mailed oriental ramen to our house because after going to seven different stores, only one place carries that flavor and even then they don’t stock it regularly.

7. Too many PC games, too little time. I think I could’ve saved the money I spent on consoles and put it all towards a high end gaming rig. There are so many incredible freeware titles that I could spend a lifetime playing just those. And there’s also that back catalog of excellent PC games that I picked up from random places. For instance, Zax: Alien Hunter from Save-a-Lot for $1 – that game took 10 hours of my life. And yes, I did at one time shop unabashedly at Save-a-lot. And still would, if there was one nearby.

8. TWP in the projects blog actually is entering its third week (almost fourth) but the idea is that we actively work on projects. The laundry room is coming along really nicely now, and now that Lisa is in the 2nd tri, I can start moving stuff from the office to the basement. We’ve used the basement but up until now it hasn’t been a ‘destination’. I’m really excited to see the finished product – we’ll finally have full use of the whole house, not just select rooms.

9. The rabbits are gone. I miss them already.
