Another one of those top rated freebies on Amazon, “A Little Death in Dixie” is a by the numbers police drama with some interesting twists. Imagine “Law and Order” with a little HBO mixed in, and you have this book.
The plot isn’t hidden from the reader. The journey is seeing how the main character learns all the information that the reader already knows. There was one gut punch left towards the end, with a visceral and chilling tale with respect to one of the characters who died early on. It’s a shame he died, since he was only character that wasn’t of the cookie cutter variety.
By the end, I was glad it was over, but for the price of free it was worth the read. I certainly wouldn’t recommend paying for it, though, unlike the previously mentioned book.
