Rather than work on my site I’m working on our site.
And you know, if more people used mozilla I’d have been done a while ago. But no, 85% of the market still uses that stupid IE. IE can’t read html properly. So, I’m trying to develop a workaround and not trying to consider scrapping what I have for something else…
Which is what might end up happening. I have an idea that I may use but would change our entry page so that it’d only show a couple of updates at a time… tops. And that really annoys me. But, what can be done? Nothing, really, other than wait for everyone to switch to IE7, whenever that comes out. Or, Firefox, better still.

I’ve been using my phone more heavily more for data apps and I recently found the program profimail, which is better than quite frankly a lot of desktop email programs, including Thunderbird and OE – primarily because of the simplicity of the email program. it’s fast, and convenient.
And, it actually can reference my contact list and if I so choose, edit my contacts and share them between the two.
So it’s begging the question, why not drop the zaurus entirely and use my phone as it is – a smartphone?
It’s running on the symbian 60 system, which isn’t linux or windows – it’s symbian. Primarily found on Nokia phones, it’s ridiculously popular in Europe but not so much in the U.S. Why? Because we’re behind. VCast was a technology introduced many years ago in Japan. I don’t think Americans are yet ready for better technology – demand drives the market, and right now we’re fighting for the best.
So, back to the main point at hand, why not use my n-gage as a smart phone? I did buy it solely because of it’s features, which included gaming, but not for only that. It has bluetooth – why not install an instant messenger, a notepad program, install a sync program on my pc, and use that?
I’m beginning to wonder… why not? Why not just condense everything to one device?
Further still, one can buy a bluetooth portable keyboard for this phone, and further expand its usefulness.
Mind you, I love my phone and I love my zaurus. But it’s hard to carry around two devices especially in the summer – and I don’t really need or care much for the wifi since I have t-zones.
This only crossed my mind since installing profimail, and already having opera mini. For those not aware, Opera is one of the fastest rendering and best browsers ever, having tabs well back into the very early 90s. It’s also the most CSS compliant, a boon to web developers. It didn’t catch on initially because the free version was ad supported, which was recently removed (thank god!).
I liken it to Eudora, which is an outstanding email program but you had to pay to get rid of the ads. I used to use as did Lisa before I got her to use netscape.

It’s all to confusing, even for me. But it’d be nice to have one device with my reminders, shopping lists and notes all in one. I wouldn’t sell the zaurus, of course – it’s still convenient for walking around the house and browsing, or walking around outside or if I’m going to a place with wifi (and planning beforehand) to carry it and use the wifi for highspeed browsing on a much bigger screen with a keyboard, or if I want to IM from the couch (that’s actually quite fun). But, convenience!

Have you noticed the fewer the wires the more the hassle? Or that every year a bunch of magazines tout a ‘must have device’ for 20xx when two years ago I didn’t need it? Bugs the hell out of me.
Project consolidation is coming along nicely. I have only one desktop and one laptop, one pda and one cell phone. That’s pretty decent. Nevermind that my alarm clock is an old P133 thinkpad (which I need to reformat).
I need to reformat my alarm clock.
That’s both delightfully hilarious and pitifully sad at the exact same time.
Good night.
