Mare is a cereal junkie, so she’s going to buy the stupid boxes of cereal. Go figure. I’m pretty adamant about this, so I figure to win this challenge.

Ok, I downloaded and installed kubuntu. Amazing piece of work. You run the live cd, hit install – and you can browse the web as it is installing. I’m not a gnome person, hence the aversion to plain jane ubuntu.

Needless to say, I was impressed. It took 15 minutes total to install it on my seldom used (but fast) desktop machine.

Now, the quandry. Do I want to install it over SUSE on the laptop? I just finished installing enlightenment, and of course it’s running flawless – sound, video, wireless internet, battery, etc. With laptops and linux, that’s sometimes dodgy since laptop manufacturers keep secrets of specs and how to interact with devices. They make their own drivers for windows, but not linux.

Not quite the same with off the shelf parts for desktop machines. My desktop uses no proprietary parts (i.e., Dell, HP). Anyways. We’ll see. It’s a much more streamlined OS, that’s for sure.

Today is the first lazy day of a long time. I imagine it’ll be spent on the car. If I get anything accomplished, it’ll be here first. Good day!
