comprak.net

A bit of a misnomer – this is however the first official entry of comprak.net.

A little bit of background is necessary, I’m sure. Truncated, of course.
I built a website back in 1995 whereupon I planned to build and sell PCs. I was already doing it, so why not continue doing so? In any event, it was called Comprak’s Domain.

Over the years that site morphed, as did the host, Geocities. The site was plagued with adverts, so I needed to move the site. For about 3 months, the site was hosted on no less than 5 different ‘free’ providers. None of them worked out.

Finally, I found f2o.org, which treated me well for the three plus years that I used it. However, reliability issues plauged it – in the meantime, my wife and I decided to purchase webspace since our personal website was also on f2o.

So, the main website is our’s, and mine is but a small folder on said webspace – however, I also finally purchased comprak’s… err, domain, hence comprak.net. GoDaddy promises a 99% uptime, which is quite exciting for all my esteemed readers. Finally, I moved our service from a Windows server (blech) to a Linux server, of which I’m more familiar – originally it took me three hours to setup this weblog (basic setup!) under the windows server – I destroyed and rebuilt it in 10 minutes under Linux.

Welcome to comprak.net!

Some background – the weblog is powered by WordPress, and the theme is Wuhan. The layout poses a problem for the rest of the site, since I want to retain the old site’s styling, but perhaps update it slightly – so you can assume this theme will eventually go away. Eventually.

From here on, you can assume that I will updating the weblog *here* and not at f2o. I’ll point a link from there indicating as much.
