So the Eagles lost. Of that game I watched all 2 minutes. From what I read, the Eagles deserved to lose.
No surprise there. Sounds like they made a lot of mistakes. And even the offense sucked.
Well, of course I write ‘don’t stop watching this team! they’re exciting!’ and then the number one offense stinks it up big time, in front of 70,000 people.
Go. figure.
Anyways, the neighbor across the street gave up on the Eagles (they didn’t fly their usual flag) and I told the Comcast guy that I already did, and he said after this game, if they lose, he would too. (D’oh)

Speaking of which, we switched to Comcast Digital Voice along with our usual package. Why? Because it is going to save us a ton of money. And, we needed a land line phone. And, Vonage was getting extremely poor in terms of quality.
Now, with Vonage, I imagine there is a QOS issue that Comcast is causing that makes it not sound great. There’s no way to prove that, but I am going to assume that is the problem.
We needed unlimited calling, since our phones don’t work in the house, and we have a two year contract. I like my phone, and I don’t want to go back to Verizon, so once the plan ends (or we can afford to break it) I’d like to try Sprint/Nextel. The Comcast guy was using a sprint/nextel phone, and he was able to make and receive calls in the basement, which is pretty freaking impressive (even with Verizon I wasn’t able to do that at my parents’ house, when I had it – in fact, I had to stand outside with Verizon there, too).
We live about 2-3 miles away from my parents, for comparison.
Anyways, the idea of saving money (about $400+ for a year), the Vonage quality of calls, and the lack of cell phone service contributed to going back to the devil (the irony!).
I will say this. The installation went flawless. The tech showed up on time, was cordial, and did a very sharp and professional job. Part of it was that I dictated where and how I wanted things installed, with which he complied. I let on that I used to troubleshoot CDV so he stopped trying to suggest how to do things. So we have cable tv (with a dual tuner DVR), as well as phone and the high speed. I’m very happy with the installation, all things considered.
One thing that amazed me with the CDV was how amazingly clear the calls were. I’ve had Verizon, AT&T and Vonage (for landline) and yet, nothing was ever that crystal clear sharp (and loud). Now one only hopes this thing works without issues. After the inital propogation period I was able to make and receive calls without any issues.
The experiment is going to last for a month. There are two nits that I plan to call in with after 12 if they aren’t resolved – the digital voice center (web portal) and the voicemail stutter tone keeps happening, even though there is no voicemail. But they’re just nits.
I want to start calling long distance numbers just because. Like France. But there’s no reason to! Shoot.

Turns out it wasn’t a matter of pressing a button like Lisa had indicated in her weblog – the heater is busted in some way shape or form. Not entirely certain as to what, yet. We will hopefully have a warm house soon, but I think we’re getting used to the frigid cold. What a sad state of affairs…
It’ll probably be like france, where we got used to the miniscule (reasonable) portions of food and when we got back to the U.S., readjusted for huge portions they provide everywhere.

I have a gift certificate from Lisa to the NBA store. I think I’m going to get a sixers flag.

Let’s call France and plan another vacation!
… If only we could. Le sigh.
