Just three days late, too!

So it appears all the furniture decided to show up yesterday, and I have to say, from what I’ve assembled, it’s pretty and well worth the cost. Yes, assembled, but not like Ikea assembled – this is like well packed, well designed, beautiful lines, real wood, etc. etc. – and it all matches, so we’re definitely happy about that.

All that’s left is the kitchen table, which was strangely enough shipped by a third company. Sears delivered some oversized items, UPS delivered other items – I have never heard of this third company. Regardless, once that’s in, the kitchen will be nearly complete (still need the chair rail).

In any event, the rush is for the baby, obviously. It’s like having a houseguest come visit – there’s so much to prepare! The baby isn’t going to remember any of this, but in all her pictures, she’s going to see this stuff. For my case, I can see in all my baby pictures the kind of life my parents struggled through, but there’s none of that in Jaya’s pictures. If you can control your own destiny and give exactly what you want to your child, you’d do it, right? I guess that’s the mentality we’ve been having as of late.

What’s also interesting about the furniture is that Lisa and I have been going back and forth about what kind of furniture we want. Turns out this particular style had what we both wanted – an old style coffee table and a more modern looking entertainment stand (not one of those hutch/armoire type things – can’t stand them). Same goes for the dresser and the bed. The kitchen will be interesting, since instead of chairs, there will be stools. I’m hoping it wasn’t short sighted and that the baby once older isn’t going to kill herself sitting on these things. But I suppose that’s true about any chair, right? Hmmm…

Simply an article about the failures of proxy wars. A war by proxy is fighting a war by paying troops of that country. Applied to Vietnam, applies to Iraq.

The Sacred is profane. If you read anything, you have to read this one, oh, tabernacle.

I can’t believe Christmas is so soon! Last year we had at least some christmas shopping done… this year, nothing! Where did the time go? It also amazes me that the house has taken this long and the interior is STILL not finished. I can’t stress how bleak the outlook is sometimes when we walk into the baby’s room and it is simply no where close to done.

And it never ceases to amaze me that all our weekends are booked, too. How does this happen?

I’m sick of Philadelphia idiot fans. They booed Jeff Garcia after he got up from a vicious hit for the second time in the same drive. They want AJ Feeley.

Yes, they wanted the third string QB who wasn’t a good starter in Miami or elsewhere.

These are likely the same morons who booed the 5 time pro bowler and potential hall of famer in Donovan McNabb.

I just want to say – I wish they could ban those idiots from even participating in Eagles games, whether at home watching or at the game. I can’t tolerate absolute stupidity. I Just Can’t. (Same reasoning applies to the Phillies)

Three touchdowns, no interceptions and they’re booing him. Go freaking figure.

Speaking of sports, the ESPN power rankings have the Sixers dead last in the league, below the Knicks. If that isn’t a fall from grace (they were in the top 15 after their wins over teams like Orlando and 3-0 record). Now that’s just harsh. I think they’re just annoyed that they thought this would be a break out year for the Sixers. Urg.

And as a final note, Hollis Thomas was suspended for four games for steroids. He used to be an Eagles player, but now plays for the Saints (go Saints!). Interestingly enough, the steroids were in his asthma medication, which is the same I use – Advair and Albuterol. If he’s anything like me (and from what I read, I believe his is worse), he needs that stuff to live a normal life. So the idea that he gets suspended not for performance improvement but for health related reasons really strikes me as odd. How can you have a zero tolerance policy like that? Especially since he’s been playing for years! And this is legit medication, not performance enchancing in any way (and believe me, I know)! Ridiculous, is all I say.

More later, if I decide to shirk more work.

I love the Quebecois. They amuse me.

I also love the furniture. Yay furniture! The baby isn’t going to fall off the stools… hopefully.

And I love you. :-* The mostest!
