Now We Wait, Day 9

The baby is officially late.

Lisa is officially miserable, but she’s being a good sport.

The picture of the car never made it because I couldn’t be bothered to unpack my laptop. Worse still, xD picture cards are a weird proprietary format, so to upload them in windows I have to find the driver CD. I was uploading them from Linux, which I hosed (remember?) and never fixed (remember?). I’ll get to it, probably today, as I work.

I can say, triumphantly, that all the curtains are hung (one valance at shoulder height left, which is extremely easy to take care of, after we buy it) and all rooms are painted, including the bathroom. This means I’m done climbing on ladders and drilling holes in walls (until I start wall fishing wires) and especially done with primer and paint fumes. The bathroom was easily the worst room I’ve worked on in this house (worse than the kitchen, by leaps and bounds).

Started at seven or eight? ended at twelve. The baby’s room is adorable. Everything matches in the bathroom (the walls, the towels, the bath mat).

Tonight is for mass cleaning. Old English, Old Murphy, and Old… uh… Lysol? And boxes have to go in the trash / garage.

The trash people are finicky. They won’t take anything bigger than a 20″ lcd tv box (which is pretty small). They won’t take the 40 lb (empty) litter containers, either. Our garage is literally stacked to the ceiling with boxes, which, when it gets warmer, is my job to cut and stack to be taken to the dump. That’ll be fun… but at least I’ll get the garage back!

I promise media will go up soon. I schedule one task to take two hours, it takes four. After the cleaning (and if we’re unlucky), there’ll be time to work on media.

Now, if we’re lucky (and so far we have been) the baby will decide to come out this week. I’ve been playing Marco (polo) with the baby – instead of kicking when I say Marco, she now punches Lisa’s cervix (never a plesant feeling, so I’ve been told) but at least it appears she wants out. :-D

Finally, some spy pictures of the 2008 Scion xB (to be released later this year). From what I see, I’m not thrilled about it – it’s like a mini Honda Element, and I don’t particularly like the Element (it’s our company vehicle). I really like my simplified interior too, with the flattened dash and lots of ‘junk’ space, with the ‘bookcase’… it’s not quite as nice as a tC, and it’s not utilitarian like the xB – it’s like a Toyota Matrix meets Scion xA look. This does have the more powerful engine (possibly the tC’s) and nice wheels. Oh, and it seems they finally put in gauges, instead of blue/red lights (a complaint of mine). Meh, we’ll see.
