I’m lousy – lousy I tell you – at being a stereotypical nerd. I don’t have any depth in programming experience, I haven’t seen all the star wars movies, I don’t know how to play Dungeons and Dragons, (ironically, even) I’m not very good at math (though, strangely I had the highest grade in my Calculus III course), and I don’t have a great deal of interest in RPGs.

How’s this for lack of nerd-ness? I haven’t seen the Transformers movie, and I don’t care. I liked Transformers, but not that much (I preferred G.I. Joe).

Or how about this? I haven’t played any Final Fantasy games. Not a one. I own three, though. I do intend to play them, but everyone keeps raving about FF VII… what’s the deal about a spiky haired blonde kid with a sword six times bigger than he?

Or how about this? My fastest computer is about seven years old.

Or how about this? I don’t plan to upgrade.

Or? I haven’t watched any anime in almost five years (gasp).

I’m stuck. I’ve been pigeon-holed in some quarters as a stereotypical nerd, but I lack the requisite credentials to be considered a nerd. Yes, I run linux, but not because I have any desire to stick it to “Micro$suck”.

Suggestions?

For those not paying attention, the Sixers beat the Spurs, the Pistons and the Nuggets … in a row. As for the Nuggets game, it was Iverson’s first trip back to Philly.

This is largely the same team that I’ve been saying for years should be a playoff team. They’re 16-4 in the last 20 games. They’re fighting for the sixth spot in the playoffs. All it took was Billy King’s firing, eh?

Finally, the ugliest car in existence was unveiled yesterday: the Toyota Hako concept, or, the Scion tC replacement. More pictures here.

As the article suggests, Toyota screwed up with their latest revision of the lineup. They aren’t hip, and they don’t appeal to the same crowd that lapped up the xA, xB and tC. The tC is still a huge seller, but the current versions of the xB and xD certainly underwhelm.

Should they have created the new xB? No. But I’m just their target market, why would they listen to me?

In seriousness, the reasons why the new models are the way they are is because Toyota listened to people who didn’t like the first run designs. What the latest crowd asked for were bigger engine, bigger trunk, but at Scion pricing… sounds like they should’ve been upsold on the Toyota brand, not what make wholesale changes to the Scion brand. It makes you wonder what marketing was thinking when they heard these desires, compared to the sales of the xA and xB.
